Lockdown 2.0 Extended Till May 3 – PM Modi
Lockdown will be extended across India till May 3. India may have paid a big economic price, but there can be no alternative to saving human lives, said PM Modi on lockdown.
PM said, “Suggestions from several stakeholders including states and people have favored extension of lockdown. There will be strict surveillance till 20th April. Relaxation may be given in safe areas post-April 20.”
Modi said, “States which will not let hotspots increase, they could be allowed to let some important activities resume, but with certain conditions.”
Fight against coronavirus will be made more strict in the next 1 week, new hotspots will create a new crisis, he added.
Earlier India has observed a 21-day lockdown which is now further extended, so as to stop the spread of the virus.
“Govt to issue a guideline on the extended lockdown, tomorrow. We have already made arrangements for 1 lakh beds as India has more than 600 hospitals to fight COVID-19,” said Modi.
India might have limited resources, but I appeal to the scientists & doctors of the country to come forward to find a vaccine for Corona. COVID-19 testing is being done in over 220 labs. There is adequate stock of medicines and ration, he said.
“Central Govt and State Govts are working together to ensure that farmers face minimal problems. While making new guidelines, we have kept in mind the interests of the poor and daily wage workers,” PM said.

- Maintain social distancing.
- Take steps to boost immunity.
- Download the ‘Aarogya Setu’ app.
- Help the poor & needy.
- Be compassionate, Don’t stack staff.
- Respect & honor COVID warriors.
India’s fight against coronavirus is going on very strongly, says PM Modi in an address to the nation. I know the kind of trouble all of you have been through in this period, he added.
“Our Nation has been able to contain the spread and ill-effects of Coronavirus due to your patience. We all have suffered to save the nation. Citizens have saved their country while facing difficulties,” he said.
“We started screening at airports even before the 1st case was detected in the country as India was vigilant from the beginning of the spread of this pandemic,” he said.
PM Modi said to its citizens that “If we show patience, follow rules, maintain discipline, we will win that battle against corona.”
